This photo of cross sectioning shows fractures occurring at the
intersection of the copper-plated blind via top plate and the
barrel. Most likely this occurred during production, with the via
plug not properly cured. The via plug material is expanding and
can lead to the via top plate eventually popping off, ultimately
causing a failure.
