A Look at Process Qualification |
 |
|
Process Qualification is used to ensure that existing or
proposed manufacturing processes meet or exceed the requirements
set forth by the company, a customer, or an established standard.
Process Qualification involves assembling the boards with the
process options and then testing the boards at various stages of
the process. Ion chromatography is often used during Process
Qualification, as well as other testing techniques, such as SIR,
C3, and visual inspection. As always, Foresite consults with the
customer throughout the process and delivers a final report
outlining the findings and our recommendations.

Does Electronics Really Have a Surface Contamination Problem? |
 |
|
This article, published in Circuits Assembly February
2005 issue, explores product reliability. There are a growing
number of No Trouble Found (NTF) returns and many companies have
not stopped to ask “why?” This article explains some of the root
causes – and the repercussions – of NTF returns and what you can
do to remedy the situation.

Can You Identify this Problem? |
 |
|
In a lead free (RoHS) compliant world, the optimization of the
SAC 305 wave solder process has proven to be a bit more difficult
than originally thought. This picture shows bridging on fine pitch
bottom side SMT, which has proven to bridge easily, requiring
additional touch up operations.

Meet Eric!
|
|
|
|
Eric loves rollercoasters. I mean really loves them, as in
will drive long distances, go often, and ride repeatedly. Not
many people are as dedicated rollercoaster fans as Eric. And
that is the way Eric is at Foresite - dedicated. He will do
what it takes for customers, even jumping on a plane to fly
out of the country the same day we get an urgent request, if
need be. He has even spent holidays on the production floor at
customers' sites. Once he moved for five weeks to the
customer's location to oversee a critical, temporary process.
Eric started out nearly ten years ago in our lab, went on to
be project coordinator, Terry's eyes and ears at customer
sites, and then on to manage the custom projects. He has
learned our services and their applications inside out. In
addition, Eric is an IPC 600, 610, and J-STD-001 certified
trainer. Now Eric is a Lead Investigator and you will find him
a dedicated expert if you have the opportunity to work with
him on your project. |
