Services: MRTC Program
Monthly Residue Testing and Consulting
We realize electronic manufacturing engineers are typically not residue analysis experts. Our reports are designed to educate engineers and managers on process residues and the resulting reliability impact on product. Using root cause analysis, we identify specific contaminants present, contributing process sources, material compatibility issues, and provide corrective action plans and recommendations. The goal of the MRTC Program is to conduct scheduled monthly testing activities designed to improve product reliability and establish a process performance baseline that will assure optimum performance.

Foresite can customize the MRTC Program to meet the needs of Assemblers, Fabricators and Materials Suppliers. Call Foresite for more information.

The following is our Process Control Service Contract which is based on a one-year agreement.

The standard monthly program deliverables are:
  1. Consulting (Technical Support)
Up to 15 hours per month of phone or e-mail consulting typically on topics such as:
    • Education on residues and sources
    • Problem identification and creation of test matrix to identify root cause
    • Process auditing protocol and establishing monitoring parameters
    • Design of Failure Analysis investigations
    • Appropriate material selection and compatibility discussions
  2. Sample Analysis Program
Standard analysis package includes 20 tests per month divided between either:
    • Ionic / Organic Residue Assessment using Ion Chromatography (IC)
    • Electrical Assessment using Surface Insulation Resistance (SIR)
    • (SIR test chamber availability requires SIR testing to be scheduled when needed)
    • Additional blocks of 20 samples available per month at a reduced rate
Quick Turn Priority Scheduling (<5 working days from receipt of material). Analysis report is faxed to client for each separate test group throughout the month.
  3. Monthly Summary Report
A summary of all test data results and communication throughout the month will be compiled into a single month end report. A comprehensive report will be issued at conclusion of contract.
  4. Monthly Consultant's Letter
Authored by Foresite personnel, the Consultant's Letter will address 2-3 key industry issues.
  5. Process Mapping
At start of the project, a process map will be established indicating a risk assessment summary of the materials and processes being used. Each subsequent month, the risk assessment will be updated reflecting the changes & improvements made to date.
  6. Reduced Rate for On-Site Consulting / Auditing / Education / Training Programs
When on-site services of Foresite personnel are required during the contract period, the customer receives these services at a reduced cost from standard pricing.
  7. Terms (Net 30)
Release of the Monthly Summary Report will initiate monthly invoicing. Up to 20 unused analysis tests can be carried forward and used in the next month.
Foresite has 12 years of residue data related to ionic, electrical, and the situational effects that impact the performance of electronic hardware. As we encounter new customer processes and situation, we use this growing database and our experience to assess the risks of electrical leakage, electromigration, and the insulative effects of residues on functional assemblies. We develop corrective action plans and suggest recommendations based on the data from your specific project, your particular needs, and your process capabilities.

The MRTC Program provides a cost savings of 40% over standard project pricing.
